Walking the Straight Path
Walking the Straight Path is a text used in the first year of the Junior Youth Spiritual Empowerment Programme. It brings together twenty stories from several different cultures, each with a universal theme. Many of the stories are well known, have been recounted in numerous ways, and in this sense belong to the heritage of humankind. In Walking the Straight Path the stories are told in a way that teaches concepts related to moral development and develops language skills.

What is a Junior Youth Group?
The Junior Youth Spiritual Empowerment Programme is a three-year programme for 12-15 year-olds which fosters a positive transition from childhood to adolescence. Junior youth engage by joining or forming a group, which often comprises 5-10 young people in a given locality, and usually meets at least weekly.
Participants learn to identify the needs of their community and to find ways to respond to them through increasingly complex and meaningful acts of service. They study together a series of modules which can provide them with the elements of a conceptual framework that will guide their choices and actions as they mature into adults. Purposeful social, sport and artistic activities also constitute a key element of the programme. See here for more information.
