Wellspring of Joy

Wellspring of Joy is one of the entry-levels texts for young people between the ages of 12 and 15, generally taken up for study after Breezes of Confirmation, and, like that text, is designed to strengthen the powers of thought and expression.

The story follows Saw Tu, a twelve-yar-old boy whose family, fleeing hardship, is adjusting to life in a large city in a Western country. His story provides the basis for an exploration of the profound connection between joy, reliance on God, and certainty - a certainty that grows with the acquisition of knowledge and its application. In this sense, the text builds on the central theme of Breezes of Confirmation - that, if one makes an effort to achieve noble goals, one will be confirmed from on high.

  • What is a Junior Youth Group?

The Junior Youth Spiritual Empowerment Programme is a three-year programme for 12-15 year-olds which fosters a positive transition from childhood to adolescence. Junior youth engage by joining or forming a group, which often comprises 5-10 young people in a given locality, and usually meets at least weekly.

Participants learn to identify the needs of their community and to find ways to respond to them through increasingly complex and meaningful acts of service. They study together a series of modules which can provide them with the elements of a conceptual framework that will guide their choices and actions as they mature into adults. Purposeful social, sport and artistic activities also constitute a key element of the programme. See here  for more information.
