On Wings of Joy

The publication of On Wings of Joy in December 2007 was the realisation of a dream for Lou Turner. She had kept notes and photographs of her travels to many countries during the 1970s and 80s, when she visited Bahá’í communities around the world to assist them in whatever way she could. She hoped that one day these collected materials would become a book.

It was a deeply sorrowful event that awakened Lou Turner's longing to know more about the purpose of life. In 1962 she found the answer. Newly widowed, after thirty years of happy marriage, this discovery inspired her to fly alone to Africa on the first of a series of challenging adventures around the world. What was it that gave her the confidence to travel, without her husband, for the very first time? Why was it that she never felt alone? How did she deal with the difficulties that arose?

From the African bush to an international school in India, from the tropical islands of the South Pacific to Poland in Europe, this heart - warming autobiographical account will touch your very soul.

"In this world we are influenced by two sentiments, Joy and Pain. Joy gives us wings! In times of joy our strength is more vital, our intellect keener, and our understanding less clouded. We seem better able to cope with the world and to find our sphere of usefulness ..." - Bahá’í Writings
