On Health and Well-Being is one of the entry-level texts in the series and is the second to address scientific and mathematical concepts. There are ten lessons altogether, each of which consists of a reading followed by several activities to further understanding of the scientific concepts treated in the story and the application to one's life.

The readings follow Teresa and the seventh-grade class she teaches, which is studying the subject of human health. She and her students talk about a few common diseases and the pathogens that cause them, learn about the specialisation of cells and tissues and what certain organs do, and discuss how the immune system functions and how to protect the body through healthy habits and vaccinations.

What is a Junior Youth Group?

The Junior Youth Spiritual Empowerment Programme is a three-year programme for 12-15 year-olds which fosters a positive transition from childhood to adolescence. Junior youth engage by joining or forming a group, which often comprises 5-10 young people in a given locality, and usually meets at least weekly.

Participants learn to identify the needs of their community and to find ways to respond to them through increasingly complex and meaningful acts of service. They study together a series of modules which can provide them with the elements of a conceptual framework that will guide their choices and actions as they mature into adults. Purposeful social, sport and artistic activities also constitute a key element of the programme. See here for more information.
